Since the beginning of the year, companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) have been preparing to change their reporting formats. Starting from 2020, they must be sent as the XHTML files instead of the PDF files. The change means that these companies must choose an IT solution that will su

Since 2020, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has imposed an obligation on all companies listed on stock exchanges in the European Union, which prepare their financial statements in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), to report in the new technical standard XHTML. In addition, companies that prepare consolidated annual reports are required to report in the Inline XBRL (iXBRL) format.

A financial statement is the most important report published by a company. It is the basic source of information on the financial and asset situation of the company. The quality, usefulness and reliability of the information contained therein are the key points of interest of internal and external recipients. The information is used, among others, by members of supervisory boards, investors, analysts, contractors, banks, companies insuring contracts and providing commercial guarantees, as well as many other participants of economic life - said Ewa Matlak, Project and Product Manager at the Regulatory Solutions and Risk Division of Asseco Poland.

The amendment introduced by ESMA added the possibility of machine data processing and the option to compare information published by individual companies. In order to comply with the new reporting obligation, appropriate tools are required to enable the ESEF (European Single Electronic Format) report preparation.

The change of regulations means that companies will have to choose an IT system that will support key areas of the reporting process. They will need a solution that will help with the organization at each stage of the process. In particular, such a solution will provide the possibility of preparing financial statements in the iXBRL format in accordance with the ESEF standard.

The Asseco ESEF system was built on the basis of Asseco's many years of experience in providing reporting solutions to the Polish financial market. It offers ergonomic and user-friendly processes and functions that enable the preparation of financial statements in a form that allows for their submission directly to the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF), meeting the requirements of ESEF - emphasized Ewa Matlak. Asseco ESEF enables independent work of users and full control over the process by a company, automating all possible steps, which increases the efficiency of user's work.

The solution is provided via a web browser. It enables the preparation of financial statements in the ESEF format and their export to the appropriate format (e.g. xHTML, iXBRL). Asseco ESEF integrates with Microsoft Office - Word and Excel - allowing for comfortable and intuitive work on financial statements.

Thanks to the integration of Asseco ESEF with the Asseco Reporting Platform, it is possible to fully support the process of preparation of financial statements, including the process of consolidation of statements within the capital group. Such an approach enables the organization of reporting processes in a company, its automation, increase of work efficiency and reduction of operational risk of the reporting process - summarized Ewa Matlak.

Asseco ESEF is offered in two variants tailored to a company's needs:

  • On premise - a solution designed to run in a customer environment with the possibility of individual adaptation and customization to the needs of an organization,
  • On cloud - the most financially beneficial proposal, a solution offered in the form of a service in a comfortable and secure Oracle Cloud.

Asseco has created common IT platform for cooperative banks

Asseco has created common IT platform for cooperative banks

Asseco Poland has developed a solution that, thanks to the introduction of process standardization and service sharing, improves the operational efficiency and reduces the costs of banks. The Common Information Technology Platform (WPI) is a comprehensive IT solution offered in the SaaS model that c

Cooperative banks have a less complex organizational structure than commercial banks, as well as a lower level of specialization of individual units. Therefore, they have a greater need for automation and maximum simplification of service. Asseco Poland, in cooperation with cooperative banks, has created a solution that will enable the introduction of automation of some tasks and reduce operating costs of the entire organization.

A great opportunity for the development of the entire cooperative banking sector and a response to the growing costs of IT infrastructure is the standardisation of activities and the sharing of services. The Common IT Platform has allowed to introduce tools that can be used by many banks. The standardization of their work will facilitate customer service processes without losing individual features necessary to compete on local markets. This is the first solution in Poland that can be described as a "bank in the socket" because it contains everything a modern financial institution needs today for its current functioning and further development - said Andrzej Nowakowski, Director of Cooperative Banks Division at Asseco Poland.

The solution has been created in cooperation with the banks of the BPS Association. The Cooperative Bank in Lubaczów was the first to implement the Common IT Platform, while in the Cooperative Bank in Płońsk the implementation is at the final stage.

By observing the market and our customers, we came to a conclusion that a change was needed. The system we had no longer met our expectations because it did not allow for efficient integration with other tools available on the market that we wanted to implement. We were looking for a solution that would be comprehensive, expandable and accessible to all. During discussions with Asseco’s experts, we decided that the designed solution was to serve other cooperative banks. The implementation is expected to increase the business scale, rationalize costs and increase data security - said Dariusz Konofalski, CEO of the Cooperative Bank in Płońsk.
To meet the expectations of our customers, we decided to implement a modern system - the WPI platform, thanks to which they received access to new functionalities in Internet banking, soon mobile banking, or services such as My ID and BLIK. In addition, the new system has had a measurable impact on the quality and speed of service in the branches, thanks to which our customers and employees save time. All new offers are implemented much faster, which will surely translate into their competitiveness in relation to products offered on the market - said Paweł Kapel, CEO of the Cooperative Bank in Lubaczów.

The platform can be parameterized according to individual needs. Thanks to the solution, processes that are similar in all banks (accounting, billing, reporting, risk management, anti-money laundering, pricing) can be automated and consequently lead to lower back-office costs in each institution. At the same time the platform allows for individual shaping of areas independent for each bank, such as building an offer.
The Common Information Technology Platform (WPI) is available in the SaaS model, which reduces the costs associated with maintaining separate infrastructure and resources for their maintenance. Each bank using WPI receives an electronic banking solution, transaction system, reporting and analytical tool and intuitive omni-channel solutions. Asseco takes over the responsibility for the hardware infrastructure, maintenance of the server room, licenses and software updates, as well as daily closures.

The old and universal dilemma - to build or renovate - nowadays gains a new dimension and a new meaning. How quickly can a digital bank be created today and how should it be understood? Do the digital bank and the digital transformation still mean the same thing? Can we still afford digital transformation programs lasting five or seven years when a very short time to implement the necessary change has become a condition for survival? This is one of the main issues that will be addressed during this year's Asseco Banking Forum 2020 conference. The event will be held online on October 6, 2020.

The consolidation of the banking market, the entry of new players - fintechs and the environment of low interest rates have shaped the conditions of the financial sector in recent years. This year another factor has been added to the above mentioned - the uncertainty and unpredictability of the near future, related to the coronavirus pandemic and its social and economic consequences. This forces the banks to re-solve the previously known dilemmas. The difference is that this time, it is not about greater or lesser efficiency as a result of decisions made. Now it may determine their survival," said Adam Góral, President of the Management Board of Asseco Poland.

On September 30, Europe's largest conference on electronic signature and trust services will be held once again, organized by Asseco Data Systems. The theme of this year's edition, which will be held online, is "Trusted Economy". It is also the main topic of the report, which will be published durin

During the European Electronic Signature Forum, experts from all over the world, representing the business and legal environment, European standardization institutions and research and consulting companies, will summarize how the events of recent months have affected the development of paperless solutions. They will also present the most interesting implementations and analyze trust services in the context of technologies such as blockchain, 5G network or IoT.

The European Electronic Signature Forum has been a key event in the security and trust services market for 20 years. This year we decided to change the form of the meeting and organize it online. Moreover, we decided to launch a free participation option - said Tomasz Litarowicz, EFPE Conference Director. The e-conference model is a challenge, but most of all an opportunity for experts and participants from around the world to participate. We are hoping that the involvement of speakers from other countries will contribute to an even higher substantive level of this event - he added.

One of the main points of the conference will be the publication of the report "TRUSTED ECONOMY in new normal" prepared by Deloitte, Obserwatorium.biz and Asseco Data Systems. The situation related to the pandemic has accelerated the digitization of companies. However, to a large extent, it was a fast digitization "at all costs", which brought some compromises and, consequently, did not provide an adequate level of cyber security. This process was also accompanied by the introduction of legal regulations both in Poland and in the whole European Union, which were to support it. However, they did not address all the needs of electronic circulation. The aim of the report is to show how trust and electronic identification services can maintain the trend of digitization of processes in a safe and user-friendly track and how they can help other businesses as well as consumers to enter the path of secure digitization.
A honorary patronage over the EFPE 2020 conference was taken by: the Ministry of Digitization, the Polish Information Technology Society (PTI), the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications (PIIT), NASK, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
We encourage everybody to make time for September 30, 2020 and take an active part in the conference, which will be held in 3 languages - Polish, English and Russian.
The registration form is available at: www.efpe.eu.

The Ministry of Finance has been regularly updating the list of Poland's largest CIT payers for several years. The largest payers currently include banks and energy companies. First on the entire list was PKO Bank Polski, with PLN 1.37 billion. On the podium of the ICT industry list were: Cyfrowy Polsat Group , P4 and Allegro.

We consider paying taxes in Poland as our duty and an expression of economic patriotism, which we have been advocating for many years, says Artur Wiza, Vice President of the Management Board of Asseco Poland. Asseco pays taxes in the places where it earns its revenues and we always want to be a good example of a company that supports the development of the countries where it operates. We are glad that increasingly more entrepreneurs have been acting similarly. These are the foundations of economic wisdom, which should be strengthened and developed to create a strong economy, he adds.

The total amount from CIT that went to the state budget by August 1 this year amounted to PLN 30 billion. A list of the largest contributors is available on the Ministry of Finance website.
