Currently, tens of thousands of kilometers of broadband networks are being constructed throughout Poland. These structures can be compared to “highways” that will significantly boost the availability of high-speed Internet across the country. Each highway needs junctions, exit and access roads so that it could be used by local communities. The same applies to the Internet and infrastructure which is necessary to bring it to our homes. The whole system of connected vessels will work on condition we have efficient operators that manage fiber-optic networks, as well as local internet providers whose task is to serve individual households or businesses. In order to support their activities, we have developed a brand new software called Asseco Convergent Services Environment (Asseco CSE).
Asseco CSE has been created on the basis of Asseco’s experience gained when implementing the “Internet for Mazovia” project and our long-term cooperation with the telecommunications sector. This software responds to the needs of optimizing IT infrastructure, managing services in real-time, as well as marketing of converged products, meaning services that can be bundled within a single offering (e.g. Internet, television and electricity).
“With many years of experience in cooperation with the largest Polish operators, we have managed to create a system that supports the management, sales and billing of converged services, and is well adapted to the requirements of the Polish telecommunications market,” said Radosław Semkło, Director of the Telecommunications and Media Division, Asseco Poland S.A.
Asseco CSE has been designed a component-based system, allowing for highly flexible deployment as well as reducing the costs of maintenance and integration. The system will also be a strong element in pursuing the omnichannel strategy, which involves serving customers through various access channels such as a website, call center, face-to-face meeting, or a mobile application. Asseco CSE can be installed either in the client’s own or Asseco’s infrastructure, hence the system is available for use by large telecom operators as well as by smaller, local players or mobile virtual operators.

This task has been executed by the Polish-Korean consortium, with the participation of Asseco. The company was responsible for the installation of active networking equipment as well as for the implementation of software to support the operator’s activities (the network passporting system as well as the business support system, including CRM, order management and billing). The total project cost amounted to nearly PLN 450 million (gross).
The aim of the project was to eliminate the so-called white spots, i.e. places with limited internet access, from the Mazovian Province map. Currently, ICT infrastructure has been brought to all villages.
“From now on telecom operators will be able to offer their services even in places which used to be unprofitable,” said Radosław Semkło, Director of the Telecommunications and Media Division, Asseco Poland S.A. “As a result, all the institutions and companies, as well as over 95 percent of Mazovia residents will have high-speed internet access,” he added.
Asseco was responsible for the supply and installation of active networking equipment as well as for the implementation of software to support such devices. The company will also provide maintenance services for the supplied infrastructure over a period of five years. Moreover, Asseco delivered, installed and configured the Network Passporting System. The work performed by Asseco was worth PLN 60 million (gross).
“Our participation in this project and long-term cooperation with the telecommunications sector gave us a lot of valuable experience that helped us develop a new software solution,” said Radosław Semkło, Director of the Telecommunications and Media Division, Asseco Poland S.A.
The company has developed a software solution called Asseco Convergent Services Environment (ACSE). It is a system designed to support the management, sales and billing of converged services, and is dedicated to all broadband network operators in Poland. The “Internet for Mazovia” project is now the reference user of this system.

The main element of the project was to implement a hospital information system (HIS), which was accomplished by Asseco with the help its proprietary system called Asseco Medical Management Solutions (AMMS). The project completed by the company was worth nearly PLN 11 million.
AMMS software helps manage the operations of medical facilities that are engaged in the provision of miscellaneous healthcare services. The system enables efficient organization of treatment processes by storing and sharing all patient records in electronic form. The system supports medical personnel in their daily routines, among others, at the admissions offices, consultation rooms, hospital wards, emergency and rescue departments, laboratories, and hospital pharmacies.
In addition, Asseco was required to integrate its solution with RIS/PACS type systems. Such tools are dedicated to Diagnostic Imaging Departments and Radiological Laboratories. These systems make it possible to save medical test results, including X-ray images, and to attach them to the patient’s records. This enables digital archiving and efficient access to all saved documents.
“Our IT solutions enable faster diagnosis of patients, contributing to their more effective treatment and shorter stay at the hospital,” said Dariusz Warmons, Sales Manager, Asseco Poland S.A. “Medical personnel have been equipped with highly powerful and intuitive software, which is already used by more than 190 hospitals all over Poland,” he added.
The project was initiated by the Marshal’s Office of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province in Toruń within the framework of a broader programme called “e-Services – e-Organization – A package of IT solutions for organizational units of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province”.
AMMS is a comprehensive IT solution dedicated to hospitals, polyclinics, medical centers, outpatient clinics and emergency departments. AMMS features a number of functionalities for the identification of patients, including registration of referrals with the help two-dimensional barcodes, as well as retrieval of patient data from identity documents. It also enables printing and reading of doctor referrals in the encoded form. Transmission of such documents in electronic format between different medical centers reduces the time of patient registration and admission, while eliminating errors that might occur due to incorrect reading of handwriting.

The system is intended to improve the conditions for the operation of public transportation in the center of Rzeszów by assisting the city residents with parking their vehicles and reducing the time spent on searching for a vacant parking space. The contract worth nearly PLN 11.6 million has been co financed by the European Union.
Thanks to the implemented solutions, finding a vacant parking space will be much quicker. The city installed 12 parking navigation boards which will indicate the number of available parking spaces and direct drivers to the least congested area. In addition, such boards can be used at any time for traffic management by displaying various road signs or information. Drivers will be able to pay for parking in cash or using contactless payment cards (PayPass, PayWave) at 130 units at various locations.
“We want Rzeszów to develop dynamically and, above all, to be a friendly city to all of its residents and visitors,” said Jerzy Tabin, Director of the Municipal Administration of Marketplaces and Parking Lots in Rzeszów. “The system for handling and management of the paid parking zone is capable of exchanging information with the city’s traffic and public transportation system; hence they are complementary to one another. Through the adopted solutions, we want to change the drivers’ commuting habits and encourage more people to use public transportation,” he added.
Asseco has designed the flow of traffic inside the paid parking zone and the related management system, together with variable display boards and parking ticket vending machines powered by batteries and solar cells. Furthermore, the company helped with establishing the Paid Parking Zone Management Center that has been provided with miscellaneous ICT equipment, including servers, portable and desktop computers, network equipment, and staff trainings. The whole contract performed on a design and build basis was completed by Asseco within just 6 months.
“In this project, all of our subcontractors were Polish companies, mainly from the Subcarpathian region,” commented Adam Góral, President of Asseco Poland S.A. “This project is a perfect example of effective cooperation between Polish entrepreneurs. I believe that, whenever possible, Polish companies should support each other in business,” he added.
Asseco is one of the largest employers in the region. The company’s Rzeszów-based headquarters is the place of work for more than 520 people.
