On 24 July, Plus mobile operator launched a freshly redesigned version of its online store. The implementation was conducted by Asseco’s Telecommunications and Media Division. The effects can be seen on www.plus.plThe portal features a simple structure, intuitive navigation and an elegant visual layout. It has been designed in accordance with the RWD (Responsive Web Design) guidelines. The appearance, functionality and layout of individual pages adapt automatically to the screen size of the device that is used to access the portal. Websites developed using this technique are universal and clearly present their contents on the screens of computers, tablets or smartphones. This project was quite a challenge for Asseco Poland as it involved a wide range of tasks (complete system development, from analysis of requirements to implementation) and a very demanding work schedule. For this reason the project has been divided into two stages.“In the first stage, we delivered just the online store featuring several forms to run on the ‘old’ portal. At this stage the store supported just basic sales processes. Implementation of this phase provided the client’s business with the necessary sales tools, while we got to know how demanding it was to conduct all the required test procedures, as well as to implement and maintain this system. In parallel with the first stage testing, we commenced the second phase work. At that time, it turned out that, in addition to functional requirements, the client expects us to improve the store’s visual layout. We assigned this task to Divante agency,” says Szymon Marzec, Project Manager at Asseco’s Telecommunications and Media Division.“The new website of Plus is not just a refreshed version of its former appearance. The portal structure has been completely redesigned, and now the users are provided with a number of facilities allowing them to match our offering to their specific needs,” says Paweł Wróbel, Vice Director for Management of Portal Offering and Internet Sales at Plus. “The new graphic design should satisfy even the most demanding Internet users, while the portal functionality will surely meet the needs and expectations of our customers,” he adds.

Asseco Poland has successfully implemented the IBM Cognos Express solution to support analytics and Big Data at the Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center in Bydgoszcz. The system implementation helped increase the number of blood donors by 10 percent! This is another successful project of Asseco, after helping the blood centers in Warsaw and Łodź.Asseco Poland’s Healthcare Systems Division has completed the implementation of IBM software for business intelligence and predictive analytics at the Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center (RBDHC) in Bydgoszcz. This supports the institution in planning more effective campaigns to promote blood donation. Asseco’s task was to supply software along with the necessary hardware infrastructure matched to the client’s specific needs. Theproject also involved mapping of databases available at RBDHC, as well as development of reports and full documentation. Currently, Asseco provides support for individual users engaged in data analysis at the Center. The implemented IBM Cognos Express is a comprehensive component-based solution for intelligent data analysis and planning, dedicated primarily to midsize organizations. RBDHC chose to implement IBM Cognos Express Reporter, which provides quick access to statistical data, self-service reporting, and many other capabilities. As a result, employees at RBDHC in Bydgoszcz obtain full knowledge of the structure blood donation in the region, including information on blood groups, age distribution, etc.In Poland, blood donation is based on honorary donors, that is people who donate blood for free. The process is carried out through a network of centers, such as RBDHC in Bydgoszcz, which qualify potential donors, collect blood, store it and supply it to healthcare facilities. They are also responsible for taking actions to promote blood donation.“With this new data processing software, we are able not only to analyze data from a historical perspective, but also prepare forecasts. For us it is a very important functionality because it helps us in organizing promotional campaigns and collecting blood,” says Jacek Południak of RBDHC in Bydgoszcz. “Following this implementation, the number of donor applications increased by about 10 percent,” he adds. Thanks to the predictive functionality, RBDHC in Bydgoszcz can predict the months of greater demand for blood or higher number of donors, as well as when to launch appropriate promotional actions. They are also better able to identify the areas or persons to whom such campaigns should be addressed. Importantly, the collected data and forecasts allow for personalization of activities, including the distribution of invitations through SMS messages and e-mails. The software also supports the operation of the so-called blood busses, that is mobile blood collection points. Based on the analysis of historical data, system operators know when and where to send such vehicles and can analyze all the data gathered during such trips.

Smartphone, call center czy tradycyjne „okienko” powinny oferować klientowi takie same możliwości – powiedział Sławomir Ziajka, Dyrektor Departamentu Planowania i Rozwoju Produktów, Asseco Poland. – To prowadzi do scalenia tradycyjnych i cyfrowych kanałów sprzedaży – dodaje.Z tegorocznego raportu wynika także, że dobre relacje z bankami były kluczowym czynnikiem sukcesu biznesowego dostawców IT. Bez zadowolenia z wcześniejszej współpracy poszerzanie zakresu dotychczasowych kontraktów i zwiększanie udziału w rynku nie byłoby możliwe.

Internationally recognized research and advisory firm Gartner has published a report on key vendors of IT solutions for the utilities sector, entitled “Magic Quadrant for Utilities Customer Information Systems 2014”. Asseco Utility Management Solutions have been mentioned in the prestige group of products that meet the demanding functional criteria at a sufficiently large scale of business, and are the only Polish product included in the report. The Gartner’s Magic Quadrant report names the producers of CIS class systems that combine themeasuring and billing functionality with customer services (CRM).“Our presence in the Magic Quadrant confirms the high competence of Asseco in the development and implementation of IT solutions for the utilities sector.I am confident that along with our international expansion, which began from Ethiopia in 2014, Asseco’s position in the Gartner report will be getting stronger,” comments Tomasz Bendlewski, Director of Energy and Gas Industry Division at Asseco Poland, and adds: “We are most pleased that this year’s Gartner report clearly shows that the quality of cooperation with Asseco has been evaluated by customers higher than the average of our international competitors. The market has also appreciated the multimedia features of AUMS which allow our customers to create well diversified product offerings.”Asseco Utility Management Solutions are a CIS class system developed by Asseco Poland. Its modular architecture allows for the gradual implementation of selected modules. The whole solution has been integrated with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM system. The solution features a modern billing system and a variety of functionalities to support professional and comprehensive customer service. Its flexibility and open architecture enable easy integration with other systems as well as adding new functions without disruption to ongoing business processes.“Already in 2009, when we decided to build a new product, we noticed that energy companies operated in an increasingly competitive market.Their effectiveness depends to a large extent on the ability to offer and promote new products and services, attract new customers, as well as to build customer loyalty.Today, the market tendencies observed both in Poland and abroad confirm our earlier predictions – electricity sellers launch new products, where energy becomes a supplement to other media such as the Internet or pay TV,” says Tomasz Bendlewski.AUMS is fully prepared to support the sale of electricity in combination with all kinds of media, including gas, heat, water, Internet, television or telecommunications services. “This advantage of AUMS has been already used by non-energy sector companies, such as Orange and Polkomtel mobile operators which added electricity to their product portfolios,” – adds Bendlewski.AUMS has been already deployed in 12 utility enterprises and helps handle a total of 8.7 million electricity customers. At present, more than 60% of all electricity bills in Poland are generated using Asseco’s solutions. The largest implementation in Poland is the mass customer billing system at Tauron Group which supports over 3.2 million customers in one central database. The first AUMS contract executed abroad involves the construction of a modern energy market in Ethiopia in cooperation with the Information Network Security Agency (INSA), an Ethiopian government agency. Their electricity distribution system will be based on Asseco’s proprietary AUMS software as well as on the company’s extensive know-how in IT solutions for the energy sector. Thus Asseco Group has an opportunity to play a significant role in the economic development of Ethiopia and other emerging markets in Africa, as well as to present Poland in this continent as a provider of technologically advanced solutions.Gartner’s report entitled “Magic Quadrant for Utilities Customer Information Systems” was published on 28 May 2014. The project of “Construction of a central system for automatic traffic surveillance” is co-financed by theEuropean Regional Development Fund and will be implemented until the end of 2015. The first components of the system were launched in July 2011. In June 2014, the Central Processing System was set into operation in order to enable automatic processing of data for recorded driving violations.“CANARD utilizes the most advanced technologies, both within its control and measurement infrastructure and IT solutions. It should be emphasized that the Central System functionalities cover a number of interrelated areas. Therefore, when implementing a new IT solution, we needed to take this aspect into account, as well as compliance with our high performance requirements,” says Marcin Flieger, Director of CANARD.The CANARD’s Central Processing System has been developed by Asseco Poland. Over a period of 18months, the contractor provided and launched the data processing center, created software necessary to support all the required system functionalities, as well as conducted trainings for CANARD employees. The system has been implemented within the contractual deadline. The Central Processing System is intended to ensure maximum automation of data exchange which is associated with road traffic offenses. Innovative, automatic speed trap cameras equipped with wireless communication send information about driving offenses to the Central Processing System. The system verifies such information for compliance with formal requirements as well as for the possibility of further proceedings and, subsequently, it reads the vehicle registration number. On this basis, details of the vehicle owner are retrieved automatically from the Central Register of Vehicles. In addition, thesystem supports the process of generating any documents applicable in offense proceedings, including summons and fines, as well as in judicial proceedings. A separate component is dedicated to the fine collection process. Thanks to the applied IT solutions, the General Inspectorate of Road Transport is able to remotely configure all their recording equipment, manage the entire infrastructure, as well as to prepare operating analyses of the automatic traffic surveillance system. The system is fully scalable and can be extended with additional solutions to increase road safety, such as section speed controls or monitoring of red-light driving. In the development of the Central Processing System for CANARD, the main focus was placed on the use of innovative products and technologies that originated in Poland in recent years. These include, among others, the software for automatic identification and classification of vehicles which, together with services and data provided by the Central Register of Vehicles and Drivers, make it possible to identify the vehicle owner very quickly. For maximum security and flexibility, this solution also incorporates a number of open source technology products. Such approach to the implementation of IT projects becomes more and more popular in the Polish public administration.
