Ultimately, after an e-Referral is issued by a doctor, patients will receive an informational printout containing a barcode. They will also be able to choose an electronic referral as an SMS or e-mail containing a 4-digit verification code - PIN (options active only for holders of an Internet Patient Account). Then, a patient will be able to make an appointment by phone.

said Krzysztof Groyecki, Vice President of the Management Board of Asseco Poland.

The pilot project as well as providing patients with access to e-Referrals is carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Centre for Health Information Systems. At this stage, the implementation of e-Referrals is possible only in places where selected medical facilities are located. As of January 1, 2021, electronic referrals will be available throughout the country.
