Asseco Poland has signed a PLN 170 million worth contract with the General Inspectorate of Road Transport. The subject of the contract is to implement the Central Processing System for the Automatic Road Traffic Monitoring Center (CANARD).The Automatic Road Traffic Monitoring Center (CANARD) is part of the General Inspectorate of Road Transport. It is responsible for managing the systems used for automatic recording of driving offenses. CANARD focuses especially on non-compliance with speed limits and traffic lights (red-light driving), which are considered as particularly dangerous behaviour, based on the analyses of road safety. The first stage of the project (worth PLN 47 million gross, funded by the EU in 85%) will take only 4 months to complete. During this time, Asseco will supply and implement the data processing system, build an application with basic functionalities, and conduct necessary trainings. The project will enable prompt delivery of driving tickets to road traffic offenders. A speed trap camera equipped with a wireless communication module will send information about the driving offense to the Central Processing System. Subsequently, details of the vehicle owner will be downloaded automatically from the Central Register of Vehicles and Drivers (CEPiK), enabling automation of the process of issuance of traffic fines. The target version of the system will be ready within 18 months of signing the contract. While constructing the Central Processing System for CANARD, Asseco will apply an innovative solution based on open source technology. Such approach to the implementation of IT projects is rare, but becomes more and more popular in the Polish public administration.A separate stage of the project (worth PLN 123.5 million gross) involves maintenance of the system over 10 years. During this period, apart from providing maintenance services, Asseco will further develop the application and run the required user trainings.

The National Healthcare Fund is providing medical facilities with eVEB (Electronic Verification of Eligibility of Beneficiaries) information system, which will be used to electronically verify the eligibility of healthcare beneficiaries as of January 2013.eVEB system will provide healthcare centers, which are contracted by the NHF, with an on-line access to the Central Register of the Insured. This will allow to quickly check whether or not a patient is eligible to receive healthcare services. In order to be applied efficiently, eVEB system needs to be integrated with IT solutions used by hospitals and clinics. The operational launch of this new functionality will be preceded by running trial tests in December 2012. This process is already taking place in several provinces, but medical facilities should join the launch of eVEB system as soon as possible.“Asseco’s systems are ready to cooperate with eVEB. Therefore, our clients can already install and configure the necessary software components in order to ensure flawless communication with eVEB system (network service provided by the National Healthcare Fund). It is also advisable to define the group of users, who are granted access to eVEB system in the procedures of patient registration and collection of their eligibility confirmations. I cordially encourage you to undertake these actions already in December, as this will considerably affect the way hospitals and clinics are assessed by patients who expect efficient service,” – says Krzysztof Groyecki, Managing Director at the Healthcare Division, Asseco Poland.Introduction of the electronic verification of beneficiaries will definitely facilitate and speed up the registration of patients in clinics and their admission to hospitals. eVEB system will enable personnel at hospitals and clinics to check the current status of the patient’s insurance rights over the Internet. When visiting a doctor, a patient will need to carry just a document proving their identity and personal identification number (PESEL). Thanks to the implementation of eVEB system, patients will be no longer required to present evidence of their health insurance (health record book, or insurance contribution payment certificate – RMUA).Simplifying the procedure of settlements with the National Healthcare Fund is no less important to medical facilities. This is yet another reason why they should quickly implement the electronic verification of beneficiaries. The cost of treating a patient, whose eligibility has been confirmed in eVEB system, shall be paid by the NHF even if it ultimately turns out that such patient is not covered by health insurance. In such cases, not the medical facility but the NHF will have an obligation to recover the cost of treatment.Asseco Poland is a leading provider of Hospital Information Systems (HIS) in Poland. Asseco's solutions have been deployed in more than 450 largest hospitals and a majority of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Centers in Poland. Solutions provided by Asseco are also used by the National Healthcare Fund units. Services of all the spa centers working with the NHF are accounted for using an Internet application developed and implemented by Asseco. Furthermore, Asseco’s software application called mMedica helps nearly 10 thousand medical practitioners and clinics in accounting for and settlement of patient visits.

Asseco Poland and Warta Group entered into an agreement for the development of the Integrated Information System (IIS) by Asseco Poland. IIS will be the main product management system after the merger of WARTA and HDI Asekuracja. The agreement concluded between Warta Group and Asseco Poland provides for comprehensive development of the Integrated Information System.“We want to prepare our IT system to serve a larger number of customers, agents and insurance policies, because it will be used by a much larger organization, following the merger of Warta and HDI Asekuracja,” says Hubert Mordka, Vice President of Warta and HDI Asekuracja, responsible for IT.The merger will be conducted because in July 2012 Warta became a member of the German Talanx Group, which is the owner of HDI Asekuracja. After the take-over of Warta, one of the first decisions was to retain both the brands and distribution networks of Warta and HDI Asekuracja to sell retail insurances products, although the companies will be merged under the common name of Warta.“Nevertheless, all our customers will receive the same high standard of service as our internal procedures will be standardized based on the Integrated Information System developed by Asseco. We deemed such a scenario to be the most suitable for completion of the operational integration of the merged companies within 24 months,” explains Hubert Mordka. He added that expansion of their business operations, as well as development of new customer service channels, are causing the need for continuous development of the system, and in particular its ability to be easily integrated with other applications. Therefore, Warta estimates that, in the period from 2013 to 2014, nearly 200 modifications will be implemented in order to upgrade their IT system.“We are ready to provide the highest level of technological support to this dynamically growing organization. We can guarantee development of a scalable solution, able to support the ambitious plans of Warta Group companies to increase their market shares. The latest Truffle100 ranking presenting Europe’s top 100 information technology companies, providing proprietary software and related services, was published on 6 November 2012. Asseco Poland ranked seventh, having generated EUR 866.2 million in software revenues.Asseco Poland has, for the fourth consecutive time, ranked in the top 10 among the largest European companies included in the ranking. Year by year, the company manages to increase its sales of proprietary software, which is one of the key objectives of its development strategy. Such a consistent growth in revenues from software solutions is achieved by maintaining long-term relationships with Asseco’s clients as well as by implementation of a huge number of projects, virtually for each sector of the economy. During the first nine months of this year, Asseco signed over 1700 new contracts, significantly strengthening its position among major players in the European software industry. In the commentary prepared especially for this year's edition of Truffle100, Adam Góral, President of the Management Board of Asseco Poland, said:“The Polish market of IT solutions for the financial sector has become mature. However, we still have great prospects for the informatization of enterprises and public administration. The Polish Government is aware of the need to integrate distributed information systems at various public institutions. Development outlook in this sector is still related to e-Government projects. There are also plenty of opportunities open for local governments, as the EU funds will support the development of IT systems dedicated to this level of administration. (…) Whereas, the enterprises sector requires IT companies to provide both management information solutions and customer service support systems.”The Truffle100 ranking is prepared under the auspices of the European Commission and it discusses the market of Europe's major software producers. Just as in the previous year, the group of leaders is headed by Germany's SAP with nearly EUR 14 billion in software revenues, followed by France's Dassault Systèmes (EUR 1.8 billion) and Britain's Sage (EUR 1.5 billion). The ranking is dominated by companies from the UK, France and Germany. There are only two Polish companies among the hundred largest software players in Europe, namely Asseco Poland at 7th place and Comarch at 50th place.Combined software revenues generated in 2011 by all the firms included in the listing reached EUR 52.9 billion, outperforming the 2010 sales by more than EUR 22 billion. Whereas, 76 percent of such total turnover was generated by 25 largest players. The detailed Truffle100 report is available at:
